AI dubbing for video ads: scope, costs and review

Set language, voice permission, quote line items and human review before making dubbed ad versions.

Treat AI dubbing as a production and review job, not just an audio export. Name the market and language variety, agree on the source and voice use, price each production and review step, and assign someone who can check the final ad.

Choose the market and source first

“French version” or “Spanish version” leaves choices open. Name the market, language variety, tone, offer, price, product terms, and destination page. Give the reviewer the campaign brief and landing page as well as the script.

Check the source transcript against the recording. Resolve names, numbers, and product terms before making target versions. Mark claims and conditions that must stay intact. ElevenLabs’ documentation advises correcting the source transcript first; its documented API transcript-editing and regeneration endpoints require Enterprise access. A source edit can also mark translated outputs stale. Check the exact tool and plan before quoting revisions. ElevenLabs dubbing revision guide.

Agree on the voice permission

Record this for each campaign before production. These are scope prompts for the deal and approval record, not universal legal requirements.

If the buyer changes the source, language, offer, or voice use, note whether it needs a new quote or approval. For campaign permissions beyond language work, see the creator likeness licence guide.

Build a dated quote

Add the quote date, currency, billing basis, and source for each amount. Request a vendor or production quote where you do not have one; this page does not give market rates.

If the client supplies the translation, state whether you will check it or only produce from it. If you supply it, name the reviewer and correction rounds. A lead who cannot assess the language should not be the only person signing off its accuracy.

Keep a human review record

A fluent reviewer should check meaning before the team judges whether the voice sounds natural. Verify negation, quantities, dates, product terms, conditions, pronunciation, pace, captions, and scene timing.

Hypothetical review: A kitchen-ad source says a part is dishwasher safe only on the top rack. The reviewer finds that the target script dropped “only on the top rack.” The team corrects the script, regenerates the voice, and checks the final audio, captions, and on-screen text before recording approval.

YouTube warns that its own automatic-dubbing feature may make errors with pronunciation, accents, dialects, names, and idioms. This is a warning about YouTube’s feature, not a measure of every dubbing tool. It supports budgeting for human review rather than assuming an audio track is ready to run. For a broader approval record, see the creator approval checklist. For the separate difference between finished ad use and model training, read AI clauses in UGC contracts.

Connect this decision to the campaign

Add the exact language and synthetic-voice treatment to the licence checklist, then send each finished language version through the approval record. A source-language yes does not settle a new language or claim.
