Can you make money licensing your voice or likeness to AI?
Compare voice-library rewards and campaign fees after you count eligibility, setup, review, costs and hours.
Possibly, but the offers work in different ways. A voice library may pay when users generate audio with a shared voice; a campaign licence pays according to a specific deal. Count qualification, setup, review, follow-up, direct costs, and hours before judging either one.
Compare the work and payment basis
| Offer | What may trigger payment | Work and terms to check |
|---|---|---|
| Voice-library rewards | Use of the shared voice by eligible users, under the vendor’s current rules | Voice qualification and review, account and tax setup, usage rules, notice period, removal terms |
| Campaign licence | The fee and conditions in a named campaign deal | Recording, product review, approval rounds, use, duration, renewal, payment date |
| Production work | A separate fee if the creator also makes or edits the ad | Brief, deliverables, revisions, tools, and whether production is inside the licence fee |
ElevenLabs markets its Voice Library programme as “passive income.” That is the vendor’s description, not a typical creator result. Its current payout guide says rewards are based on use by paid subscribers; free-user use does not count. The rate depends on the selected notice period. The vendor reviews a shared Professional Voice Clone before it appears in the library. ElevenLabs payout page · payout documentation.
Check qualification and payout setup before putting income in a forecast. ElevenLabs says a Professional Voice Clone needs the Creator plan or above and recommends about two hours of clear voice recordings. Receiving a payout does not require a paid subscription, but a creator who needs the plan should count its cost. Stripe Connect setup and a valid W-8 or W-9 tax certification are needed to receive payments. The current supported-country list includes Canada; check it and your own account before recording. Payouts are processed every 6–8 days after earnings reach a minimum, usually $10, though some countries have a higher threshold. These are vendor terms and can change.
Count the hours and costs
Include time spent on applications, reading terms, setting up a profile, recording, checking scripts, reviewing the final ad, reporting issues, invoicing, and discussing renewal. Add only costs you would incur for the offer, such as a plan upgrade or travel.
Cash contribution = money received − direct deal expenses.
Effective hourly contribution = cash contribution ÷ all work hours.
Months to recover setup cost = setup cost ÷ monthly contribution after ongoing costs.
The last formula applies only while monthly contribution is positive. These figures are before personal income tax. Separate guaranteed payment from bonuses or usage-based amounts.
Hypothetical campaign example: A C$700 guaranteed fee minus C$100 in direct costs leaves C$600. At ten total hours, that is C$60 per hour; at twenty hours, it is C$30.
Hypothetical library example: If setup costs C$150 and monthly contribution after ongoing costs is C$15, recovery takes ten months only if that contribution continues. At zero monthly contribution, the creator does not recover setup costs through the offer. These amounts are examples, not rates or earnings forecasts.

Semblanse is pre-launch and has no proven creator-income or time-saving results. Its planned paid pilot centres on campaign-specific rights and creator approval of each final ad; production details will be agreed with the brand.
